Mouse and Motorcycle trilogy by Beverly Cleary
I read these three books to Westley. Short, fun and easy chapter books that even a toddler can find interesting. I have struggled to find good chapter books for toddlers and these have been the only ones I have had success with in terms of keeping them engaged.
Lone Survivor by Marcus Luttrell
I read this book awhile back and figured it was about time I added it onto the list of books I've read, especially in light of the devastating losses Seal Team 6 took in the downing of a Chinook in Afghanistan and their success in taking out Osama Bin Laden. The story of Marcus Luttrell is absolutely awe inspiring. The best weapon the U.S. Military has is its personnel, especially our Special Operations Forces. A great account of heroism and courage. A must read!
Epic by John Eldredge
Epic, much like "Wild at Heart" talks a lot about the war being waged against Satan and the desires/troubles of man's heart/soul. Eldredge relates often to Epic movies/novels such as "Lord of the Rings", "Braveheart", "Gladiator", "Titanic", "Last of the Mohicans" and more. Recommend this book to anyone who seeks to understand their role/place on earth and the struggle we face everyday against the "Evil One" and the Evil created from the propagation of "Original Sin"
Wild at Heart by John Eldredge
A good christian book about masculinity and God. This book provides great insight into the battle being waged against Satan, the soul of a Man, the battles we fight and love we seek. This was my first Eldredge book and it left me wanting more, so I followed it up by reading his novel Epic, which discusses many of the same issues of the Epic battle we Christians face against evil! If I had to pick one between the two, I'd go with Epic, but both are good reads.
The Fort by Bernard Cornwell (Audio)
Free to Choose by Milton Friedman
Michael Vey: The Prisoner of Cell 25
This book is a young adult fiction book, the first of a new series of, I believe 7 books. This is the first book published by Mercury Ink, which if you don't already know is Glenn Beck's new publishing company. Beck and other reviews say this book is the Harry Potter and Twilight series of this generation. I read it very quickly as it was easy to read and entertaining. Highly recommended!
