Heaven is for Real by Todd Burpo

A story of a father's son and his trip to Heaven after undergoing an emergency appendectomy. I believe this is Burpo's first book, his writing needs work but overall it is an amazing circumstance and hard to believe that his son's accounts are simply four year old banter. This book wasn't on my list, but my mom read it and asked me to as well and I'm glad I did. I especially liked the detailed visual accounts of heaven and Jesus the young boy gives. Inspiring!

Revolution in World Missions by K.P. Yohannan

Found this book for free at our church's bookstore (North Coast Church). I was a bit disappointed overall, but you get what you pay for. It discusses the need mission work on the Asian continent, specifically the funding of native missionaries. I guess I didn't like the guilt approach the author took with the reader. Looking past the fact that he made me feel bad, I did see his points for funding native missionaries over the cost incurred to send foreign "White" missionaries that are honestly less effective. I will save you the read and sum it up as follows: Spreading the word of God is important, especially in countries where The Word is less accessible, so if you are in a position to financially support foreign ministries please do so.

Arguing with Idiots by Glenn Beck

This book addresses some of the common hot topics (ie. immigration) and provides good facts (along with their sources) and puts the argument in laymen terms. Good book for the everyday person, but those who are looking for a sophisticated read won't find it hear. (Side note: Glenn Beck rock's!)

A solid investment approach for saving and spending before and in retirement. Oh, and you can trust me I have an M.B.A.

The United States Constitution

The Overton Window by Glenn Beck

An entertaining "Factional" book. Beck uses extremely paranoid examples to make some general points about where he believes our American lives are heading. If you read this book right you will find he references many true events and you should spend the time to look up the events he points out.....and even the places he references.

The Total Money Makeover by Dave Ramsey

Given to me by a good friend, I absolutely endorse this book and consider it required reading. It's amazing how much financial peace can reduce many of life's stresses. Read it and then Live it.

Liberty and Tyranny by Mark Levin

I enjoyed Liberty and Tyranny but admittedly I found myself putting it down frequently. I enjoyed some of Glenn Beck's works more such as Common Sense and Arguing with Idiots.

The Fountainhead by Ayn Rand

My first Ayn Rand read. A warm-up to Atlas Shrugged. Admittedly, I have only listened to Atlas Shrugged on Audio and have not fully completed it. Both books are a good and show Ayn Rand's love of Capitalism through her fictional characters. Who is John Galt?

The Communist Manifesto by Karl Marx and Frederick Engels

This is a relatively short read; however it is a tough read in my opinion. I will need to read it again, most likely with a good beer in hand to better wrap my head around it. I love my copy in that it looks like they cut the pages using scissors so the book is not a perfect rectangle (Ironic that a book on communism would be of such poor quality).

The 5,000 Year Leap by Cleon Skousen

OUTSTANDING! If you read one book your entire life, read The Bible. If you read two, read Skousen's Five Thousand Year Leap! Every American needs to embrace Skousen's 28 principles if they want to preserve this great nation.

Mere Christianity by C.S. Lewis

Lewis makes an excellent case for Christianity. This is a relatively short book and an easy read depending on your desire to understand Christians. I would recommend this book to anyone looking for a philosophical understanding of Jesus and his religion.
